WVU Scores Big Road Win At Baylor

It got a little closer than we would have liked, considering the Mountaineers once led by 28. It looked like the all-too-familiar meltdown was coming, but they hung on and WVU scores a big road win at Baylor by a final score of 71-60. The win moves West Virginia to 20-8 overall and 9-6 in the Big 12.

Mountaineers Get Big Road Win At Baylor

West Virginia had a very balanced attack with five players in double figures. Jevon Carter and Esa Ahmad had 15 points each. Sagaba Konate had 10 points, 10 rebounds and nine blocks. Daxter Miles Jr. and James Bolden also had 10 points each.

It was a very impressive first half for West Virginia as they took a 40 to 18 lead into the break. Most teams and their fans would be pretty relaxed, but the way things have been going lately, no one had chalked it up as a win yet and for good reason.

The biggest lead of the game for West Virginia was 28 points when they led 50 to 22 with 17 minutes to go in the second half. From there the Bears began to tighten it up. The lead got down to 55-43 when Daxter Miles Jr. hit a three pointer with a foul to put the lead back up to 16. From there it was never in serious jeopardy again.

Up next the Mountaineers get a visit from the Iowa State Cyclones on Saturday where they will be trying to settle the score after losing to the Cyclones in Iowa earlier this season.
