A big question coming into West Virginia University’s football season was who will fill the big shoes left behind by Geno Smith? A quarterback battle has been on going and Coach Dana Holgorsen has yet to name a true starting quarterback.

The three men competing for the starting job are Clint Trickett, Paul Millard, and Ford Childress. It appears Childress is out of the running but it’s still unclear if Trickett or Millard will be the starting quarterback. It’s even been suggested that both men will share snaps in the team’s first game of the season.

What’s it like for these young athletes to compete against one another for such an important role? Trickett says it’s nothing more than friendly competition.

“I don’t really look at it as battling against them, I’m battling against the defense” Trickett said.
