WVU Linebacker Suspended

VanDarius Cowan

VanDarius Cowan the talented transfer linebacker from Alabama, has been suspended for the first four games of the season, per Mike Casazza of 247Sports.

According to the 247Sports source, these are eligibility issues and will miss the games against James Madison, Missouri, North Carolina State and the Big 12 opener against Kansas.

The Mountaineer defense suffered a very high amount of attrition during the off-season and we’re looking for Cowan to come in and provide a pass rush right away. That will have to wait until the fifth game of the season when the Mountaineers welcome Texas to Morgantown.

With the lack of experience in the WVU secondary, a successful pass rush is very key for this young defense. The defense will have to find a way to generate a rush without their most talented pass rusher for the first four games.
