WVU Lands a Transfer Defensive Back With a Familiar Last Name
The transfer portal has been hot this week, particularly for players coming and going in the WVU secondary. After losing three safeties, two of which who were projected to start, WVU lands a transfer defensive back with a familiar last name: Alonzo Addae.
Addae is a rising junior who played in 24 games over the past two seasons for New Hampshire. During those games he had 61 tackles, 12 pass breakups and two forced fumbles.
Here are some highlights from Addae’s freshman season:
He happens to play the position that someone he shares a namesake with coaches, Jahmile Addae. Not only is Addae the DB coach, but he also played for West Virginia. Jahmile was a four-year starter and two-time captain defensive back at WVU. He was a two-time All-Big East defensive back. Jahmile graduated from West Virginia in 2006 and spent time as a graduate assistant in the video department.
He has two seasons of eligibility left. It’s not yet known whether he will be eligible immediately for the 2019 season.
