WVU Adds Another Transfer Quarterback

Jarret Doege, bowling green, transfer quarterback

WVU has added another transfer quarterback. West Virginia has landed Bowling Green quarterback Jarret Doege, according to a source close to EerSports.

On Monday we reported that Doege had entered the transfer portal and had just so happened to follow some West Virginia coaches on Twitter. It turns out that was more than just speculation as the report from EerSports claims he is headed to Morgantown.

It’s unclear whether or not Doege will be eligible right away. With a new coach this season at Bowling Green, it’s potential that could crack the door open for him to become eligible immediately in Morgantown. If he is eligible, the door to becoming the starting quarterback for WVU is wide open.

Despite already landing Oklahoma transfer Austin Kendall, the starting quarterback situation is far from settled. Going into spring practice it looked like a two-horse race between Kendall and Jack Allison with Trey Lowe a distant third. By adding Doege it presents the unlikely scenario of the 2019 starter not being Kendall, Allison or Lowe.

It will be interesting to see where Doege fits in the West Virginia quarterback situation. Will he even be eligible for the coming season? He plans to enroll in summer classes and that is most likely his goal, but time will tell.
