Results are in! Baseball Backyard Brawl Highlights

PITTSBURGH, PA—The West Virginia Mountaineer baseball team came from behind to beat the Pitt Panthers 9-4 at PNC Park Wednesday night. The Mountaineers improved to 26-11 on the season while Pitt fell below .500 to a 16-19 record. The Mountaineers obviously enjoy playing at the home of the Pittsburgh Pirates. WVU owns a perfect 5-0 record at PNC. They are 3-0 vs Pitt and 2-0 vs. Penn State.

The WV bullpen was on target as four pitchers combined threw 6.2 scoreless innings. Freshman Gavin Van Kempen earned his second win of the season with 2.0 innings. Sophomore Grant Siegel threw 3,0 scoreless while striking out four Panther batters. Blaine Traxel finished the game with a scoreless ninth inning. Noah Short also got his two batters out.

The Mountaineers fell behind 4-0 early after two and a half innings but came back in the third inning with five runs. 

WVU returns home in Morgantown back to Big 12 action this weekend as TCU comes to Wagener Field. First pitch Friday is set for 6:30 p.m.
