Panthers Rookie Will Grier Boasts an Impressive Madden Rating

Share

An exciting time for NFL rookies is when they get to see themselves on Madden for the first time. Former Mountaineer quarterback Will Grier was one of the surprises when the ratings were released.

Grier was drafted No. 100 overall by the Panthers. He is from North Carolina and grew up just outside of Charlotte. Before playing for the Florida Gators, he moved on to West Virginia and had two very successful years for West Virginia.

It looks like Grier will have a shot to take over for Cam Newton in the coming years. With Newton dealing with injuries, Grier was drafted to add some depth and possibly have someone to groom as the quarterback of the future.

The Panthers were thrilled to be able to get Grier in the third round and felt like it was a steal. Apparently the people in charge of Madden ratings feel the same way.

Madden has Grier rated as the fourth best rookie quarterback, despite him being the fifth QB selected. He has a 66 overall rating and is actually three points higher than Daniel Jones, who the Giants drafted sixth overall.

While backing up the injury-prone Cam Newton, there is a great chance Grier gets to go on the field and prove his worth soon. One thing is for sure: Mountaineer fans will be pulling for their star quarterback.
