One and Done
MORGANTOWN, WV—According to sources West Virginia Women’s basketball coach Dawn Plitzuweit is “one and done” as the Mountaineer Coach after just one season. It has been reported that Plitzuweit is leaving WVU for the head coaching job at Minnesota.
In her first season at WVU Plitzuweit led the Mountaineers to a 19-12 record and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The last time WVU made it to the big dance was the 2016-2017 season.
Plitzuweit came to WVU from South Dakota. She took that team to the Sweet 16 a year ago.
The Mountaineers lost to Arizona (22-9) and the first round 75-62 Saturday. Arizona was in the national title game two seasons ago.
Plitzuweit will be introduced Monday. New WVU Athletic Director Wren Baker will have his work cut out looking for Plitzuweit’s replacement. Baker thanked Coach Plitzuweit for the positive impact she made on the program.
