No.1 Rated QB in West Virginia Commits to WVU

MORGANTOWN, WV—-It appears that Coach Neal Brown’s in-state recruiting is paying big dividends. It’s been reported that Abe Fenwick, the number 1 rated quarterback in West Virginia has committed to play for the Mountaineers.

Fenwick, a 6’3″, 200 pound quarterback from Charleston, West Virginia is the 104th rated player in the country in the 2024 class. He is also the sixth overall recruit in the state of West Virginia.

Fenwick had offers from Pittsburgh, Massachusetts, Old Dominion and West Virginia among several others. He led George Washington high school this season. He passed for 2,014 yards on completing 121 of 208 attempts with 25 touchdowns. Fenwick is a southpaw just like current WVU quarterback Nicco Marchiol.

Fenwick was quoted as saying “Every kid in West Virginia dreams that (playing for the Mountaineers) and I would love the chance.” He no doubt saw the success Brown was making with in-state players and the good impact they had helping WVU have a winning season.  He will add depth and potential for the future at quarterback for WVU.

Other big news this week; Garrett Greene announced he will be back next year! Garrett gave the quote of the year. “Anybody can call me and I’m not leaving.”
