New Coach for WVU

MORGANTOWN, WV—It didn’t take very long for WVU Athletic Director Wren Baker to find a replacement for Dawn Plitzuweit, the former Mountaineer Women’s basketball coach who bolted for Minnesota after one season. At a press conference Wednesday Baker introduced Mark Kellogg as the new head coach at WVU.

Kellogg is coming to the Mountaineers with excellent winning credentials from Stephen F. Austin. Baker went after a proven head coach that knows how to consistently win. Kellogg has a .780 winning percentage. In 18 seasons at different levels, he has never had a losing season.

Baker also wanted a head coach who was committed to building a championship program on and off the court. At Stephen Austin, Kellogg’s teams have taken home two regular season and two conference tournament championships since 2020. Kellogg’s path to Morgantown has had many stops. He coached at Canyon Texas, Bozeman Montana, Durango Colorado, Maryville Missouri and most recently Nacogdoches, Texas.

Kellogg is excited to live in “Almost Heaven” with his wife Trisha and their children Camden and Kayli.
