Mountaineers Sweep Another Series

WACO, TX—-The West Virginia Mountaineer baseball team is red hot! WVU just completed a series sweep of Baylor Sunday pounding the Bears with a big 18-4 win. In the three game series West Virginia outscored the Bears 33-8. The 18th ranked Mountaineers are 11-4 and are on top of the Big 12 Conference standings. WVU has a 3 game lead over second place Oklahoma in the loss column. The Mountaineers are now 33-11 on the season.

Next up for WVU is another Backyard Brawl against Pitt in Morgantown. The game is set for Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Mountaineer fans packed the home field last week to watch WVU whip Penn State 14-2. The stands will no doubt be full for another brawl rematch this Wednesday.

                       

FOOTBALL UPDATES

In other Mountaineer news a former defensive back, Anthony Wilson of Georgia Southern tweeted he is coming to West Virginia. He earned honorable mention All Sun Belt honors. This past season he logged a team high 1,023 defensive snaps and finished second on the team with 101 tackles. He chose WVU over Minnesota, Duke, Pitt, Tennessee and Purdue. It’s reported that he has two years of college eligibility remaining.

WVU also landed Baylor wide receiver transfer Jaylen Ellis. Ellis is 6 foot 3, 184 pounds. He gives the Mountaineers another option at wide receiver. He appeared in 13 games during his time with Baylor. He caught five passes for 141 yards and a touchdown. He selected WVU over Utah, Auburn and Texas A&M after entering the transfer portal.
