Mountaineer Women Win Ten Straight!

MORGANTOWN, WV—-Mountaineer junior guard JJ Quinerly had a career high 30 point game lifting WVU to a hard fought 77-72 victory over Wright State Monday. The victory was the tenth straight win this year for WVU and the fifth 10-0 start in school history.

WVU was trailing by five points early in the fourth quarter 60-55 but six straight points at the charity stripe split by junior guard Tirzah Moore and senior guard Jayla Hemingway followed by a layup from senior Kylee Blacksten  gave the Mountaineers a 61-60 lead with six minutes to go.

WVU and the Raiders were tied at 69 with under three minutes on the clock when the Mountaineers forced four Wright State turnovers. The Mountaineers outscored Wright State 8-3 to close out the victory. The Mountaineers outscored Wright State 22-12 over the final seven minutes of the contest. Jordan Harrison added 18 points and five rebounds.

The Mountaineers will remain home to play Niagara on Thursday December 21. The game is set for 2 p.m. Mountaineer fans can listen to the game on the Mountaineer Sports Network.
