When Jonathan Kimble opens the calendar on his phone, little dots denoting a Mountaineer obligation pepper the month of September – and the rest of the year, for that matter.

Every day, there’s a meet and greet, a luncheon or a visit. There is football on the weekends and soccer in between. Come spring, there will be both men’s and women’s basketball.

Elementary schools, hospitals and alumni events all request appearances by the man donning the buckskins.

And he has delivered.

Kimble, the 62nd official Mountaineer Mascot for West Virginia University, has attended more than 500 events outside of football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, swimming, rifle and other athletic events since he was named to the position in April 2012.
