Looks like the baseball team is going to continue in its winning ways.
Check it out:
West Virginia University baseball coach Randy Mazey announced the signing of 11 student-athletes to national letters of intent on Tuesday. The signees will join Mazey’s squad next fall to prepare for the 2015 season.
“I feel like we had to outwork a lot of people to get the quality of players that we got and my guys did that,” Mazey says. “Coach (Derek) Matlock and coach (Steven) Trout are warriors, they’re on the road all of the time seeing these guys play and talking to them. They bring them to campus and coach (Daniel) Carte and myself get to meet them. It’s a team effort when you sign somebody and having this class in the Top 50 says a lot about where this program is and where it’s heading.”
The recruiting class ranks No. 48 according to Perfect Game, the highest a West Virginia recruiting class has ever been ranked. The class ranks No. 5 in the Big 12 behind TCU (No. 23), Texas (No. 29), Oklahoma State (No. 33) and Texas Tech (No. 45).

Ten of the 11 signees will join the team out of high school, including six from Texas, three from Ohio and one from New Jersey. The Mountaineers added one junior college prospect from Texas.
“We really feel like we did well in Ohio and of course Texas being Big 12 country. Those kids grew up as Big 12 fans and recognized what we did last year and the direction the program is heading with the new facility,” Mazey says. “We’re able to attract some pretty talented kids right now. I think when the stadium is actually complete, it will really help our recruiting and we can bang heads with the Top 10 schools in the nation.”
