CJ Donaldson Commits To WVU/Country Roads Trust For 2024

MORGANTOWN, WV—When Penn State’s football team arrives in Morgantown to face the WVU Mountaineer football team August 31, the Lions will face WVU’s leading rusher, CJ Donaldson. Donaldson announced a partnership with Country Roads Trust for the 2024 season indicating he plans on remaining at WVU.

Even though Donaldson finished the year fighting through injuries and had limited action in the Cincinnati and Baylor games, he still finished the year with 798 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on 171 carries. Donaldson sat out the bowl game against North Carolina for precautionary reasons.

The 6 foot-1, 238 pound Donaldson has been a big part of the WVU offense since arriving in Morgantown two years ago. He was rated as a 3 star tight end out of the class of 2022. He made the move to running back before the start of his freshman year. In his two seasons with the Mountaineers, Donaldson has piled up over 1300 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns. He’s expected to split touches with sophomore, Jahiem White this fall, making for a dynamic combo in the backfield. These two are going to be dangerous to all opposition.

Ever since its creation in January 2022, Country Roads Trust (CRT) has been partnering with WVU to help get Mountaineer Athletes enticing NIL deals to support their future. In the age of the transfer portal, this initiative is crucial to keeping talent in Morgantown, with other schools potentially trying to lure players out with financial offers.
