WVU’s leading receiver from 2021, Winston Wright, has officially announced that he intends to transfer to Florida State University to close out his collegiate career.

The speedy Savannah, Georgia native shared a message on his social media pages.

Wright closed out his Mountaineer career tallying 129 catches for 1,388 yards and seven touchdowns. He was also a dangerous threat in the return game, returning 52 kicks for 1,236 yards and two touchdowns.

Following WVU’s loss to Minnesota in the Guaranteed Rate Bowl, Wright announced that he had decided to transfer, calling the move a “business decision.” The Seminoles, who finished the 2021 season with a 5-7 record, are one of College Football’s prominent and recognizable programs. No matter the scheme or the coaches, Wright will have the opportunity now to put his talents on display for what many consider to be a national brand.

Wright was one of WVU’s two key receivers that decided to enter the transfer portal following the season. Isaiah Esdale, who entered prior to Wright, has yet to announce his new school.
