Another Starting Defensive Player Enters the Transfer Portal

Derek Pitts, a starting Junior Safety, has decided to join fellow Safety Kenny Robinson, Jr. in the Transfer Portal.  Pitts, from Dunbar, West Virginia, has played in 19 career games and started two as a Mountaineer.  He saw action in all 12 games last year and tied for 3rd on the West Virginia defense in pass breakups with four.

Pitts is the 15th player to enter the Transfer Portal from West Virginia since Neal Brown has taken over the program.  He is the 3rd potential starter.  Pitts and Kenny Robinson are close friends and Pitt’s decision could be tied to Robinson’s dismissal/decision to enter the Transfer Portal.  Stay tuned to Mountaineer Sports for more news on the transfers when it becomes available.
